Will these skins fit my Jones splitboard?
Yes. The Nomad Pro Trim-to-Fit skins come in sizes S, M, and L and fit all Jones splitboards from 2016 onward. You trim to your exact board width with scissors. They are designed for Jones boards specifically — if you ride a different brand, the Nomad Universal (with Universal Tail Clip) is the right option instead.
Why are mohair skins better than pure synthetic for touring?
The Nomad Pro uses a 70% mulesing-free natural mohair / 30% synthetic nylon blend, made in Switzerland by POMOCA. Mohair delivers significantly better glide and a supple skin feel compared to pure synthetic; nylon adds grip, water repellency, and durability. The combination outperforms synthetic-only skins on most touring terrain.
Will these skins glide properly in wet spring snow without icing up?
Yes. The Nomad Pro features Ever Dry (bluesign approved), an anti-glopping treatment that prevents snow and ice buildup under the skin in wet conditions. The Glide Tech coating reduces friction on each fiber in both cold and wet snow. Together they keep the skins performing when temperatures swing mid-tour.
Will the skins stay stuck to my board on a steep skin track?
The Rubber Safer backing is a rubber layer that prevents the skin from getting waterlogged. Dry skins maintain adhesion far better than wet ones, especially when temps rise mid-tour. Grip Tech material also resists twisting and abrasion under dynamic load on steeper terrain.
Are these skins PFAS-free?
Yes. The Nomad Pro is explicitly made without PFAS (PFC-free). The Ever Dry anti-glopping treatment is bluesign approved and avoids per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. This is one of the key upgrades that distinguishes the Nomad Pro from entry-level skin options.
Do I need to do anything to set up these skins before my first tour?
Minimal setup required. The Quick Tension Tail Clips come pre-attached, and a universal tip clip is included. Trim the skins to your board width, attach tip and tail, and you're ready. The package also includes two backing sheets, a skin bag, and a skin saver for storage.
