Product Description

Built for riders who chase storms into the backcountry and live for waist-deep days, the Jones Storm Chaser Splitboard funnels serious float into a compact, high-volume directional shape. A swallowtail tail releases turns with a surfy pop while the Rocker-Camber-Rocker profile floats the nose and grips underfoot when it counts. One size, one mission: unlock the deepest frozen swells from the skin track up.

Product Details

Rocker Profile Directional Camber/Rocker: rocker at the nose for float and fluid entry, camber underfoot for grip and powerful response, rocker at the tail for a surfy, turn-releasing feel
Shape Directional with high taper and swallowtail/high-volume outline; designed for deep powder float and directional surfing in the backcountry
Flex 3 / 5 (Happy Medium): versatile mid flex that balances powder playfulness with enough backbone for variable backcountry snow
Topsheet Premium Topsheet: durable and scratch-resistant premium topsheet for intensive splitboard use
Core Control Split Core: dual-density Paulownia and Poplar (2:1 ratio) splitboard-specific woodcore; lightweight, damp, and durable
Stringer Bcomp Carbon Flax Stringer: carbon fiber for pop combined with flax fiber for vibration damping and reduced CO2 footprint versus an all-carbon stringer
Fiberglass Biax Fiberglass: biaxial fiberglass laminate delivering a mid-soft torsional flex and fast energy transfer
Sidewalls Recycled ABS: 100% recycled ABS sidewalls with rounded finish to reduce chipping
Base Sintered 8000 Base: ultra-fast sintered base, highly wax absorbent, easy to repair
Edges Inner Thin Recycled Edges: lightweight recycled steel edges on the internal splitboard edges to reduce overall board weight · Recycled Edges: recycled German steel on external edges for maximum robustness and durability
3D Contour Base High 3D Contour Base: 7 mm spoon bevel at nose (0–7 mm at tail), inspired by surfboard hull geometry to reduce friction at tips and maximize float in deep powder
Shape Tech Boltless Bridge: eliminates split clip hardware from the base by profiling a thicker woodcore under the clips, improving torsional response and delivering a stronger connection to the split clips · Low Traction Tech: minimal sidecut serrations tuned for directional powder riding
Split Clips Karakoram Ultra Clips 2.0: lighter and lower-profile than 1.0, adjustable, superior clamping force · Karakoram Tip-Lock Tip Clips 2.0: single-lever locking system, stays tight throughout the season

Storm Chaser Splitboard 2027 FAQ

Who is this board made for?

This is built for intermediate to advanced riders who tour in the backcountry. The design prioritizes deep powder and steep terrain over park tricks—it's a float-first, nimble splitboard designed to access remote snow. If you're comfortable skinning uphill and reading mountain conditions, this is your board.

What conditions is this board made to excel in?

It's purpose-built for deep powder and touring. The nose has a rocker profile and the board packs massive volume into a short length, so it floats on top of blower pow instead of diving. You'll score top marks for deep days and strong touring performance—fast uphill and forgiving in steep terrain.

What's the construction and why does it matter?

The core blends lightweight premium hardwoods (70% poplar, 30% paulownia) for edge-hold and response. Underneath, a flexible carbon plus flax stringer adds snap without adding weight, and a biaxial fiberglass wrap keeps torsion controlled. The sintered base is ultra-fast and highly wax absorbent, so you'll glide farther on climbs and descents with fewer touch-ups.

Why is it so short but still floats so well?

High volume and a swallowtail shape pack float into a 152cm package. The rocker nose and raised tail lift you on soft snow, and the 3D contour base adds surface area. You get the nimbleness of a short board with the buoyancy of a much larger one—perfect for tight trees and powder chutes.

How do I know if I have the right size?

There's one size available: 152cm, designed for 140–190 lbs (64–86 kg) and US boot size 10+ or EU 43.5+. Check your weight and boot size against these ranges. The 27.5cm waist width and 107cm effective edge suit typical Alpine boots and bindings. If you're in that bracket, this length hits the float-to-maneuverability sweet spot.
