Product Details

Rocker Type True Camber: continuous camber tip-to-tail for maximum energy and response, dynamic pop, and high-speed stability
Flex 4 / 5 (Med-Stiff)
Shape Directional with Low Taper
Core Fusion Core: Paulownia + Poplar pockets, ultralight dual-density woodcore delivering optimal strength-to-weight ratio; designed for Ultralight models
Laminates Fusion Carbon: Jones exclusive carbon + fiberglass laminate running tip-to-tail, reduces weight without sacrificing performance
Dampening Koroyd®: aerospace-derived synthetic dampening material integrated directly into the woodcore, absorbs vibrations and reduces tip swing weight
Base Ultra Base: Jones exclusive sintered base with carbon additives and multi-wax impregnation for maximum speed and wax absorption; manufactured in Austria
Topsheet Ultralight Eco Topsheet: ultra-lightweight version of the Premium Eco Topsheet; durable and scratch-resistant
Split System Karakoram Ultra Clips 3C: ultralight 3-point tension system, adjustable · Karakoram Tip-Lock Tip Clips 2.0: one-motion lever lock, stays tight all season
Shape Tech Medium 3D Contour Base: 4 mm spoon bevel at nose (0–4 mm at tail), reduces tip friction inspired by surfboard hull design · Boltless Bridge: reprofiles the woodcore under the split clips for improved torsion and a more powerful clip connection · Dual-Radius Flip Tips: dual-radius raised tips for improved floatation and reduced nose plow · High Traction Tech: serrations along the running length for improved edge grip and additional contact points

Ultralight Butterfly Splitboard 2027 FAQ

What makes the Ultralight Butterfly unique in the Jones splitboard lineup?

The Butterfly is the only Jones splitboard running True Camber, with no rocker at nose or tail. Where every other Jones split uses a Dir. Camber / Rocker profile for powder float, the Butterfly prioritizes edge power and carving precision on steep, firm terrain. A compact shape with a long effective edge completes a setup built for technical high-alpine objectives where grip matters more than pow float.

Is full camber hard to manage in a backcountry context?

Full camber requires clean edge transitions with no rocker tip to ride out a mistake. At 4/5 (med-stiff), the Butterfly rewards precise technique. In the backcountry, where you are controlling speed and line on steep terrain, full camber is an asset: it gives maximum edge engagement and predictable response. It is not for developing splitboarders, but experienced riders on technical objectives will appreciate the precision.

Is the Butterfly good in deep powder or mainly for steep, firm alpine terrain?

The Butterfly is optimized for technical, steep, often firm alpine terrain. The 8 mm taper and Dual-Radius Flip Tips provide some directional float, but True Camber does not lift the nose the way a rocker profile does in deep snow. It works in powder but requires more active engagement. If powder performance is the priority, the Ultralight Hovercraft 2.0 Split would be a better match.

How light is the Ultralight Butterfly compared to a standard splitboard?

The Butterfly uses the full Ultralight Carbon Construction: Fusion Carbon, Fusion Core, Koroyd, Ultra Base, Ultralight Eco Topsheet, and Karakoram Ultra Clips 3C. Size 154 weighs 2.7 kg (5.9 lbs), and the 150 and 158 cm sizes come in at 2.5 and 2.8 kg respectively. That puts it in the same ultralight weight class as the Ultralight Solution and Ultralight Hovercraft 2.0 Split.

What clip system does it use?

The Butterfly uses Karakoram Ultra Clips 3C, a three-point ultralight tension system that is adjustable to maintain even clip compression as the board ages. Any splitboard binding compatible with Karakoram pucks mounts for ride mode. The Boltless Bridge eliminates bolt hardware from the clip zone by reinforcing the woodcore underneath, providing better torsional stiffness at the split clip connection.

Is there a Wide size for riders with US boot 11.5+?

No. The Ultralight Butterfly comes in 150, 154, and 158 cm only, with waist widths from 25.3 to 25.9 cm. There are no Big Horn Wide sizes in this model. The 158 cm (waist 25.9 cm) is designed for US boot 9.5 to 11.5. Riders needing a wider waist beyond that range would need to look at a different splitboard model in the Jones lineup.
