Product Description

The Hovercraft 2.0 slices through every snow condition with a highly tapered directional shape that keeps the nose surfing above the chop and the tail locked when you carve. Built around a recycled Re-Up Tech Core, Biax Fiberglass, and a surfboard-inspired High 3D Contour Base with Speed Hull geometry, it charges trees, punches crud, and surfs open pow with equal authority. For freeriders who refuse to pick just one terrain.

Hovercraft 2.0 Snowboard 2027 FAQ

The Hovercraft 2.0 has 17 mm of taper, what does that mean for how it actually rides?

The 17 mm taper is the most aggressive in the Jones snowboard lineup, meaning the nose is 17 mm wider than the tail. In powder the tail sinks naturally and the wide nose planes up effortlessly. On groomers the narrow tail snaps cleanly out of turns. Switch riding feels noticeably off-balance by design. This board is built for committed forward riding in all-conditions off-piste terrain.

Is the Hovercraft 2.0 mainly for powder days or does it work across the whole mountain?

Jones describes it as an all-conditions freeride board. The medium (3/5) flex makes it adaptable in crud, trees, and variable snow. The Speed Hull base shape and High 3D Contour Base (7 mm spoon nose bevel) optimize it for float and glide, but camber underfoot still provides edge grip on firmer terrain. It performs best off-piste but holds up well on resort runs between powder laps.

I have seen the Hovercraft 2.0 in both men's and women's sections: is it gender-specific?

The Hovercraft 2.0 is a unisex board, appearing in both the men's and women's sections of the Jones catalog with identical specs. The only difference is colorway: ORION in the men's section, AURORA in the women's section. The geometry, flex, and construction are the same across all sizes, from 144 cm to 164 cm, regardless of which section you find it in.

What is Re-Up Tech Core and does it affect performance?

The Re-Up Tech Core is a Paulownia and Poplar woodcore with stringers made from recycled snowboards. End-of-life boards are processed and reintegrated as structural stringers rather than discarded. The construction delivers the same pop and durability as a conventional core. You get a lively, responsive ride with a meaningfully lower material footprint than a virgin-wood-only build.

What does the Float Pack actually do in deep powder?

Float Pack is a set of additional inserts on the Hovercraft 2.0 that let you push your stance much further back than the reference position. On a board that already has 17 mm of taper and a 7 mm spoon nose bevel, moving to the Float Pack inserts dramatically lifts the nose in deep snow. On resort days you stay at the reference inserts and the board rides completely normally.

How often does this board need waxing to stay fast?

The Sintered 8000 base is wax-absorbent and holds a treatment well across several days of riding. A hot wax once a week of heavy use is a solid cadence in normal conditions, or when the base starts looking dry. Sintered bases are also durable and easy to repair. The High 3D Contour Base bevel at the tips reduces contact at the nose and tail, so those zones stay cleaner longer.
