Product Description
Built for riders who want forgiveness without sacrificing feel, the Salomon District delivers entry-level access to ShadowFit technology in a soft, asymmetrical package. The flexible ShadowFit heelcup and Kevlar Quickwire create a natural boot-to-board connection, while the asymmetrical highback and injected ankle strap keep things playful from the park to the street. The binding of choice for a crew of dedicated freestyle riders.
Product Details
| Baseplate | Shadow Fit Baseplate built from 30% Fiberglass Nylon Composite, a softer and lighter construction than the 45% version found in higher-tier ShadowFit bindings. Integrates Kevlar Quickwire for direct energy transmission from boot to board. Includes Toolfree Adjustable Toe Ramp, Universal Disc, IMS (Interface Mounting System), Power Hook for heel retention, and Unite Disc Compatibility for Burton Channel boards. |
| ShadowFit Heelcup | Salomon's signature flexible heel cup, part of the ShadowFit system. The cup flexes naturally with the boot during riding, eliminating pressure points and creating a unified boot-binding-board feel. The District provides entry-level access to this 15-year-old pro-team technology. |
| Kevlar Quickwire | A Kevlar fiber wire embedded in the ShadowFit baseplate that transmits energy from boot to board without the rigidity of a traditional hard baseplate. Key to the natural, direct ride feel of ShadowFit. |
| Highback | District asymmetrical freestyle highback with a 12° pre-rotated shape. The pre-rotation aligns the highback with the natural angle of the ankle and calf, reducing pressure points and improving power transmission. Shared with the District Pro. Mid-to-soft flex profile for playful freestyle riding. |
| Ankle Strap | Asym Shadow Strap, an injected asymmetrical ankle strap. Softer and more forgiving than the Shadow Lite Strap used on higher-tier bindings, prioritizing comfort and freedom of movement for park and street sessions. Adjustable via MicroMax and Toolfree Strap Adjustments. |
| Toe Strap | Supreme Lite Toe Strap, a lightweight toe strap designed for all-day comfort without excess bulk. |
| Padding | Full EVA Front and Rear Pads for broad all-day cushioning across the footbed. Includes a Canted Footbed that angles the foot inward to mimic natural stance and reduce knee and ankle stress during riding. |
| Ratchets | MP Ratchet (mid-profile, smooth operation with gloves) paired with an Aluminum Buckle Lever for durability and precise closure. |
| Athletes | Gian Sutter, Tommy Gesme, Robby Meehan, Desiree Melancon |

District Snowboard Bindings - Black 2027 FAQ
Why is this binding softer than most others?
The District uses a softer flex positioning and a baseplate made from fiberglass-reinforced nylon rather than stiffer materials. On the District, this softness makes it forgiving over small mistakes, parks better because it absorbs impacts smoothly, and suits riders progressing past the absolute beginner stage who want to start threading groomers and hitting features.
What's the highback doing on this binding?
It's asymmetrical and pre-rotated 12 degrees toward your regular stance, designed to match your natural ankle angle. On the District, this angled highback transmits calf pressure more efficiently to the heel edge so you initiate turns faster and with less wasted motion, especially helpful when riding switch or jibbing terrain that requires quick, playful responses.
How do I know if the sizing is right for me?
The District comes in Small, Medium, or Large. Each size maps to a boot size range (S fits JP 22-25.5, M fits JP 25-28.5, L fits JP 29-31.5). On the District, correct sizing ensures your heel sits centered in the cup and your toes don't overhang past the baseplate, which keeps you from dragging during carves and lets the binding transfer power cleanly to the board.
What does that molded footbed under my arch do?
The footbed is canted, angled inward 2 to 3 degrees to mirror your legs' natural alignment when you ride wide. On the District, this subtle cant reduces knee fatigue across a long day by lowering the strain on your inner leg and ankle, making all-day park sessions feel less exhausting by the afternoon runs.
Is the baseplate material really important?
The District baseplate is 30% fiberglass-reinforced nylon composite with a woven Kevlar wire running heel to toe. On the District, the fiberglass adds snap and durability in cold conditions, while the Kevlar wire transmits board feel directly through the binding so you sense the snow and terrain feedback more clearly without lost energy in the connection.
