Product Description
The Howler channels the creative vision of Victor de Le Rue and Elena Hight into a full-camber directional board built for steep, technical terrain. Tapered for surf-like float in deep snow, loaded with a triple-density Power Core and Triax Fiberglass for explosive pop and precision, and sharpened by a Bcomp Carbon Flax Stringer for snappy response with dampened vibrations. A board for freeriders who want room to play.
Product Details
| Rocker Type | High Power Camber: full camber with elevated height across the effective edge. The camber line rises toward the tail and extends to the rear binding for increased stomp power under the back foot. |
| Flex | 4 / 5 (Mid-Stiff & lively) |
| Shape | Directional, tapered 8 mm nose to tail for nimble float in powder with a planted tail for drive. |
| Shape Tech | Medium Traction Tech: small serrations along the running length add multiple contact points for improved edge grip · 3D Flip Tips: dual-radius raised tip for improved float and reduced nose plow in powder |
| Core | Power Core: triple-density Bamboo, Paulownia and Poplar construction. Centered bamboo stringers deliver durability, pop and torsional control; Paulownia provides lightweight cushioning. |
| Laminates | Triax Fiberglass: triple-layer, multi-axis fiberglass wrap for mid-stiff torsional flex, precise and powerful in variable conditions · Bcomp Carbon Flax Stringer: carbon and flax stringer developed with Bcomp engineering. Carbon delivers pop; flax absorbs vibrations and reduces CO₂ versus an all-carbon stringer. |
| Inserts | Koroyd®: aerospace-derived synthetic dampening material integrated directly into the woodcore. Absorbs vibrations and reduces swing weight at the tips. |
| Topsheet | Premium Topsheet: durable, scratch-resistant topsheet built for high-frequency use. |
| Sidewalls | Recycled ABS: recycled ABS sidewalls with a rounded edge profile to reduce chipping. |
| Base | Sintered 8000 Base: premium sintered base with high wax absorption for exceptional speed and easy repair. |
| Edges | Recycled Edges: recycled German steel edges for maximum robustness and durability. |
| Epoxy | Durabond Bio-Epoxy [27]: bio-sourced epoxy with 27% plant-based carbon content, reducing CO₂ by 33% versus conventional petrochemical epoxy. |
| Additional Features | Fair Trade Certified: Jones is the first snowboard brand with 100% Fair Trade certified adult snowboards and splitboards · Solar Built: 100% solar-powered snowboard and splitboard production · Forever Flex: pre-ridden process that simulates 20 days on-snow to stabilize the flex profile for the life of the board · Factory Tuned: detuned and waxed at the factory with WEND Natural Wax, ready to ride · Works best with MERCURY FASE® or MERCURY bindings |
Howler Snowboard 2027 FAQ
Is the Howler too advanced for an intermediate freeride rider?
The Howler is built for experienced to advanced riders. Co-designed by Victor de Le Rue and Elena Hight, it targets technical freeride terrain and scores 9/10 all-mountain and 9/10 powder. The 4/5 med-stiff flex rewards commitment and speed. A confident intermediate may ride it, but it truly shines in the hands of someone who charges hard on steep lines.
Will the Howler float well in deep snow despite being a stiff board?
Yes. The Howler's 8 mm taper keeps the nose measurably wider than the tail, so the tail sinks naturally while the nose floats up in deep snow. The High Power Camber launches you out of turns with authority. At 4/5 flex, it handles deep snow with confidence at speed rather than fighting it the way a softer board might flex through.
Can I use the Howler for freestyle and park tricks too?
Yes. The Howler was designed for freeride meets freestyle, earning a 7/10 freestyle rating. The High Power Camber loads energy for snap off the tail, the Bcomp Carbon Flax Stringer adds pop for airs, and Koroyd dampening absorbs landings cleanly. It is not a jib board, but it stomps airs off natural terrain and handles park features with ease.
What does Koroyd add in real-world riding versus a standard woodcore?
Koroyd is an aerospace-derived dampening material integrated directly into the Howler's Power Core. It absorbs the high-frequency chatter that builds at speed on variable and chopped-up snow, keeping the board composed rather than chattering aggressively. It also reduces tip swing weight, making the board feel snappier and more agile through turn initiation than its stiff flex rating suggests.
Will the med-stiff flex hold an edge on steep, hard-pack terrain?
Absolutely. Triax Fiberglass (triple-layer, multi-axis) combined with the Bcomp Carbon Flax Stringer gives the Howler precise torsional stiffness. When you drive an edge on steep hard pack, the board transmits that input cleanly along the full effective edge without flexing out. At 4/5 it takes real commitment to carve, and it rewards that commitment with confident, locked-in grip.
I have wide feet (US 11+) — are there Wide sizes on the Howler?
Yes. The Howler comes in 157W (waist 26.4 cm), 160W (26.7 cm), and 163W (27.0 cm) for riders with US boot 9+ to 11+, all part of the Big Horn series. Standard sizes at 152, 155, 158, 161, and 164 cm have waist widths from 25.1 to 26.3 cm. The size table lists the recommended boot range per length.
