Product Description

Built around Faction's award-winning Elliptical Sidecut, the Prodigy 1 gives park and piste skiers a platform for clean arc initiation at any speed. A mixed Poplar/Ash core paired with a Carbon/Rubber Stomp Pad dials out vibration and shrugs off rail impacts, while XL 2.5mm edges hold ground where lesser steel taps out. Three mounting positions let riders shift between freestyle playfulness and all-mountain grip. For skiers ready to take their expression to the next level without giving up edge hold.

Product Details

Rocker Type Tip Rocker / Camber / Tail Rocker (Mustache Flex): progressive flex with stable zones in front and behind the binding for edge hold, plus progressive flex in tip and tail for absorption over moguls and debris. Eases turn initiation and exit for a wide range of skiers.
Shape Directional Twin with Elliptical Sidecut: tail is considerably narrower than the tip for optimal downhill performance, with a twin-tip tail for freestyle attitude and easy switch skiing. The elliptical sidecut delivers a longer radius underfoot for quick, easy pivoting and shorter radii at tip and tail for effortless turn initiation. Enables a wide variety of turn lengths, angles, and stance positions.
Flex 7 / 10
Core Poplar/Ash Core: poplar (light softwood) contributes flex, pop, and vibration absorption; ash (dense hardwood) adds stiffness and durability. The combination delivers excellent edge hold on hard snow, a solid base for stomping landings, and enough pop and flex for creative riding.
Edges XL 2.5mm Edges: 25% thicker than standard 2.0mm steel edges. Extra material increases impact resistance and extends edge lifespan.
Stomp Pad Carbon/Rubber Stomp Pad: 600mm long x 15mm wide carbon/rubber reinforcement positioned under the binding above the edge. Shields the core from rail impacts; the carbon-rubber combination adds stability and vibration damping underfoot.
Sidewalls Full Strength Sidewall: protective material running along both sides of the core between edge and topsheet. Improves edge hold and turn stability while protecting the core, edges, and topsheet from impacts.
Topsheet Matt Topsheet
Mounting Points Newschool (+3 cm): centered twin-tip feel, maximum playfulness · Progressive (+1.5 cm): sweet spot between carving power and freestyle versatility · Classic (factory line): optimal stability, edge hold, and float in deeper snow

Prodigy 1 Skis 2027 FAQ

I want a ski that is precise on piste but still playful enough for park — is the Prodigy 1 that ski?

Yes. The Prodigy 1 is built for skiers who want precise handling in the park and on-piste. Its 88 mm waist keeps it quick and carvy on hard snow, while the Poplar/Ash core and Elliptical Sidecut provide the pop and turn variety needed for park riding. At flex 7, it rewards confident skiing without being overly stiff.

What is the difference between a Poplar core and a Poplar/Ash core?

The Prodigy 1 uses a mixed Poplar/Ash core. Poplar is a lightweight softwood that pops, butters, and absorbs vibration well. Ash is a denser hardwood that adds stiffness and durability. Together they give the ski excellent edge hold on hard snow, a solid platform for stomping landings, and enough flex for creative riding — a step up from a pure poplar core in precision and durability.

What mounting position should I use, and what changes between them?

The Prodigy 1 offers three positions. Newschool (+3 cm forward) gives a centered twin-tip feel with maximum playfulness for switch and park tricks. Progressive (+1.5 cm) balances carving power and freestyle versatility. Classic (factory line) delivers optimal stability, edge hold, and float — best for on-piste performance and aggressive carving. Most park-piste riders start at Progressive.

Will the core hold up to repeated rail hits?

The Carbon/Rubber Stomp Pad — 600 mm long, 15 mm wide, placed underfoot above the edge — protects the wood core from impact on rails and absorbs boot vibration. XL 2.5 mm edges (25% thicker than standard) resist chipping from rocks and rail slides. Full Strength Sidewalls run the entire length to protect core, edges, and topsheet from side impacts.

What sizes does the Prodigy 1 come in?

The Prodigy 1 is available in 158 cm (1500 g/ski), 164 cm (1580 g/ski), 171 cm (1640 g/ski), 178 cm (1750 g/ski), and 184 cm (1800 g/ski). For a park and piste ski, chin to nose height is the standard starting point. Lighter or park-focused riders size down; taller, heavier, or on-piste-focused riders go longer for more stability.

Do bindings come included?

No, the Prodigy 1 ships flat without bindings. The drill spec is 4.1 x 9 mm, compatible with standard adult alpine bindings. Your shop will mount them at whichever of the three positions suits your riding style.
