Is the Punch Mitt a real pro model or just a marketing label?
It's Scott Stevens' original pro model, and the collaboration goes back far enough that Crab Grab calls it iconic. Stevens shaped the mitt around his all-around riding style, and two colorways (Original Red and Bomb Hole) are his official pro colorways. It's a genuine pro design, not just a name drop on an existing product.
How waterproof is the Punch Mitt?
The Punch Mitt uses the 15K Dry-Claw Hipora membrane: a Crab Grab customized 3-layer waterproof breathable barrier. Its microporous structure blocks liquid water while allowing sweat vapor to escape. Combined with a PFAS Free DWR coating on the shell, the Punch Mitt handles full-day exposure to wet snow without letting water through.
How warm is the Punch Mitt for cold-weather riding?
The Punch Mitt is mid-weight, using HOT CLAW 100% recycled insulation and Micro Fruzz liners. Hand Sandwich Construction puts more insulation on the back of the hand where heat loss is highest and slightly less on the palm for grip. It's a well-balanced all-day warmth level for standard mountain temperatures.
How durable are the fingertips on the Punch Mitt?
The finger caps use AX Laredo material, developed by Crab Grab as a direct alternative to goat leather. It matches goat leather for dexterity while providing exceptional durability, which matters most on fingertips where mitts take the most abrasion. The heavy-duty woven nylon shell adds structural durability across the rest of the mitt.
Are the Punch Mitt palms grippy enough for board grabs?
Yes. The palms use Full Crunch Grip construction: silicone-injected microfiber that grips hard in wet and dry conditions. Under the palm, PrimaLoft Grip-Control palm insulation uses fibers structured to minimize lateral sliding, adding anti-slip stability. Together the two systems give you reliable grip on your board edge when grabbing.
