X 3L Snow Pants - Black FAQ

What's the difference between this 3-layer pant and a 2-layer pant?

The X 3L Snow Pants use a 3-layer construction, where the waterproof membrane is bonded directly between the outer shell and an inner liner rather than added as a separate piece. That gives a higher 20,000mm waterproof rating and 20,000 gsm/24h breathability, tougher and more breathable than the brand's 2L pants for hard, wet days on the hill.

Are these pants warm on their own or do I need thermals?

These are unpadded, no insulation built in, so they're designed to be worn over a base layer or thermal pants rather than standing alone in the cold. That keeps them versatile across a range of temperatures since you control the warmth by what you layer underneath.

Will snow get in at the ankles?

No. The pants have elastic snow gaiters with a hook that clip to your boots to seal the leg opening against powder, and the cuffed leg design adds a snug fit at the bottom without needing extra adjustment.

How do I stay cool if I'm hiking or working hard?

Mesh ventilation panels on the inside leg open up to dump heat fast, on top of the 20,000 gsm/24h breathability rating in the 3-layer shell fabric. That combination handles high-output days like bootpacking or spring riding without soaking you from the inside.
