Thunderstorm Snowboard 2027 FAQ
Who is this board for, and what level do I need to be?
The Thunderstorm is built for advanced to expert riders tackling steep terrain and big mountain objectives. On this board, the medium-firm flex and directional shape demand solid edge control and confidence at speed. It rewards aggressive riders who carve hard lines and hunt powder; beginners won't feel at home here.
Should I get a twin or a directional board?
The Thunderstorm is a 3D Directional shape with a noticeably higher, wider nose and a smaller tail. On this board, that asymmetry keeps the nose floating in powder so you stay planted on the back foot, and the geometry funnels power forward for charging descents. If you switch regularly, this isn't your quiver.
Is this board good for powder?
It's purpose-built for powder. The high nose uplift lifts the tip early on fresh snow, the light poplar-paulownia core keeps it responsive without bogging down, and the directional shape helps you drive from the back foot. On the Thunderstorm, you'll float and pivot naturally in deep days without leg fatigue.
How stiff should my board be, and what does flex actually change on snow?
At 6 out of 10, the Thunderstorm sits medium-firm. The carbon stringers running tip-to-tail add snappy pop without adding weight, and the dual SuperTubes along each rail stiffen the whole package. On this board, that combination keeps it locked at high speeds and responsive to quick edge transitions, never feeling dead or chattery.
What do carbon stringers or carbon additives do for the ride?
Carbon stringers strategically placed in the core deliver explosive pop and quick edge response. On the Thunderstorm, the carbon dampens vibrations at speed so the ride feels controlled and precise on choppy snow, while the pop stays snappy for launching airs and pivots. You get energy without the weight penalty.
