Free 7 Youth Ski Bindings - White/Silver 2027 FAQ
Will these bindings work with my kid's boots — they have regular alpine soles?
Yes. The Free 7 is compatible with both junior alpine soles (ISO C) and adult alpine soles (ISO A), so it works whether your child is in kids' boots or has already moved up to an adult size. You don't need to worry about the sole format as long as it's a standard alpine or GripWalk sole.
My kid's boots have GripWalk soles — are the Free 7 bindings safe to use with them?
Yes. The Free 7 supports all four sole norms: adult alpine (A), junior alpine (C), adult GripWalk (GW A), and junior GripWalk (GW C). GripWalk soles are fully covered, so there's no adapter needed and release behavior won't be compromised.
As my child grows into adult boot sizes, will these bindings still fit?
Yes. Marker designed the Free 7's toe and heel to accept both junior and adult boot lug designs, so the binding keeps working as your child moves from kids' boots into adult sizes. That's a meaningful advantage over junior bindings that only accept one sole format.
Is the DIN range right for my child's weight?
The Free 7 covers DIN 2.0 to 7.0, with a recommended skier weight of 24 to 75 kg. That window suits a wide range of junior riders, from lighter beginners to heavier or more advanced kids approaching the adult range. A shop tech will dial in the exact DIN setting based on your child's weight, height, and ability level.
Will the 95 mm brakes clear my kid's skis?
The Free 7 ships with a 95 mm brake, sized for all-mountain junior twin-tips and mid-fat junior skis. As a rule of thumb, the brake width should match or slightly exceed the ski's waist width. Check your ski's underfoot measurement before buying — if it's well above 95 mm, you'd need a wider brake option.
What kind of skiing are the Free 7 bindings built for?
Marker positions the Free 7 as an all-mountain junior freeskiing binding. It targets junior twin-tips and mid-fat skis, making it a solid choice for kids who ski the full mountain and want to explore the park or off-piste terrain, not just groomed runs.
How high off the ski does this binding sit?
The Free 7 has a 22 mm stand height. That's a moderate stack for a junior binding and in line with what you'd expect from an all-mountain setup at this level. It won't place your child in an unusually high or low position relative to the ski.
