Do these poles work for both resort skiing and ski touring?
Yes. The Agent Poles are built specifically for that crossover. The two-section 7075 aluminium shaft adjusts from 100 to 135 cm, so you can shorten them on steep climbs and extend them for the descent. Two baskets are included (an 80 mm freeride basket for pow days and a 60 mm freestyle basket for resort use) and they swap out as conditions change.
What length should I set these at for resort skiing versus touring?
A good starting point for resort skiing is elbow at 90 degrees when you hold the grip with the tip on the ground. For skinning uphill, many tourers shorten by 5 to 10 cm. The Agent Poles adjust from 100 to 135 cm, which covers most adult heights in both scenarios.
What makes the grip on these better for touring than a standard pole?
The Agent Poles feature an extended rubber grip, meaning the gripable section runs further down the shaft than on a standard pole. This lets you choke down on the grip during steep traverses without fully adjusting the length, which is a practical advantage on variable terrain.
Do both baskets come included, or do I have to buy them separately?
Both baskets are included in the box: an 80 mm freeride basket for deep snow and a 60 mm freestyle basket for groomed terrain and park. They are interchangeable, so you swap depending on the day's conditions without any extra purchase.
Is 7075 aluminium meaningfully stronger than what I'd find on a standard pole?
