Strive 16 Mn Ski Bindings - Black/Silver 2027 FAQ

What boots are compatible with the Strive 16 MN?

The Strive 16 MN is Multinorm (MN) certified, so it works with alpine boots (ISO 5355), GripWalk boots (ISO 23223), and touring boots (ISO 9523). You don't need to worry about sole compatibility as long as your boots carry one of those norms, which covers virtually all modern ski boots.

Is a DIN range of 7-16 only for expert skiers, or can an intermediate use it?

The Strive 16 MN starts at DIN 7, which is a reasonable minimum for confident intermediate skiers of average weight. The ceiling at 16 is for heavy or very aggressive riders. If your calculated DIN sits between 8 and 13, the Strive 16 MN works well, though the Strive 14 GW would also cover you if you don't need Multinorm compatibility.

Will the brakes fit my skis?

The Strive 16 MN comes with brake options in C90, C100, C115, and C130. Pick a brake width equal to or slightly wider than your ski's waist. For a 106mm freeride ski, C115 is correct. For very wide skis at 130mm or more, the C130 has you covered.

Is this binding heavy? Does the Multinorm design add bulk?

The Strive 16 MN weighs 1125 g per half-pair, which is about 145 g more than the GripWalk-only Strive 12 GW. The added weight comes from the stronger components needed for the higher DIN ceiling and Multinorm design. Stack height is the same 19.6mm as the GW models, so it sits equally low on the ski.

What makes the Strive 16 MN better suited for freeskiing than a standard binding?

The Strive Toe piece sits at an ultra-low center of gravity with an extra-wide pedal, designed specifically for the lateral forces and varied terrain of intense freeskiing. The BC 3-parts heel provides extreme resistance and the strongest hold in the Strive lineup. It's the top-of-range all-mountain binding from Salomon, rated for the most demanding resort and off-piste use.
