| Shape | Directional (Medium Tapered), 10mm taper; tip wider than tail for nimble float and directional drive |
| Core | Power Core: triple-density Bamboo, Paulownia and Poplar woodcore; bamboo stringers along the sidecut for durability, edge response and torsion; Paulownia for lightness and dampening |
| Laminates | Biax Fiberglass: biaxial dual-layer construction for mid-soft torsional flex, a forgiving feel and fast energy transfer · Bcomp Carbon Flax Stringer: carbon-and-flax stringer developed with Swiss engineer Bcomp; carbon delivers pop, flax absorbs vibrations and reduces CO₂ vs. an all-carbon stringer |
| Sidewalls | Recycled ABS: 100% recycled ABS sidewalls with rounded finish to minimize chipping |
| Base | Sintered 8000 Base: premium sintered base, ultra-fast and highly wax-absorbent, easy to repair · Flip-Flop Base: manufactured in two base colors to minimize P-Tex waste; color does not vary by size · High 3D Contour Base: 7mm spoon bevel at the nose (0 to 7mm at the tail) for maximum float and speed in powder, inspired by surfboard hull design |
| Edges | Recycled Edges: recycled German steel edges for maximum robustness and durability |
| Topsheet | Premium Topsheet: durable, scratch-resistant topsheet built for intensive use |
| Additional Features | High Traction Tech: high-level serrations along the running length for maximum edge grip with the directional rocker profile · Float Pack: additional insert set for a very set-back stance position for deep powder riding · Durabond Bio-Epoxy [27]: bio-sourced epoxy with 27% plant-based carbon content, 33% less CO₂ than conventional petrochemical epoxy, present on 100% of Jones boards |
Stratos Womens Snowboard 2027 FAQ
Is the Women's Stratos for beginners or is there a minimum skill level?
The Women's Stratos is built for all-conditions freeride and suits intermediate to advanced riders pushing into steeper, off-piste terrain. The medium (3/5) flex is approachable but expects a rider who can drive turns rather than defaulting to skidded pivots. If you are comfortable on most resort terrain and want to explore powder and dynamic freeriding, this board is the right match.
How well will the Women's Stratos float in deep powder?
Very well. The High 3D Contour Base has a 7 mm spoon bevel on the nose, lifting early out of deep snow and reducing drag. The 10 mm taper lets the tail sink naturally while the nose stays high. Float Pack inserts let you push your stance further back on heavy powder days. The Dir. Camber / Rocker profile adds rocker at both tips for extra clearance in deep snow.
Can I ride the Women's Stratos switch?
The Women's Stratos is directional with 10 mm of taper, meaning it is shaped and optimized for forward riding. Switch is possible in casual resort situations, but the taper creates a noticeable difference in response in each direction. If riding switch regularly is a priority, a twin shape would be a better fit than this directional freeride board.
Is this the same board as the Men's Stratos in smaller sizes?
The Women's Stratos shares the same core construction concept as the men's version: Power Core, Biax Fiberglass, Bcomp Carbon Flax Stringer, High 3D Contour Base, Float Pack, and Flip-Flop Base. The size range is tailored to women (140 to 155 cm, women's US boot 5 to 11) and there are no Big Horn Wide sizes. The riding character is the same board; the geometry fits a different frame.
What does the Bcomp Carbon Flax Stringer bring to a medium-flex board?
The Bcomp Carbon Flax Stringer runs tip-to-tail and adds pop and snap without the harsh vibration transmission of a pure carbon stringer. The flax fiber absorbs chatter on firmer snow, which reduces fatigue over a full day. For the Women's Stratos, it gives the medium-flex board a lively, energetic feel that is poppier than a fiberglass-only construction at the same flex rating.
What is the smallest size and is it suitable for lighter or shorter women?
The Women's Stratos starts at 140 cm, designed for riders weighing 90 to 140 lbs (41 to 63 kg) and women's boot US 5 to 7. At 2.1 kg (4.6 lbs), it is one of the lightest options in the Jones lineup. That size is a genuine full-performance directional freeride board scaled appropriately, not a simplified version or a beginner option.
