Rally Cat Snowboard 2027 FAQ

Is the Rally Cat for beginners, or is there a skill floor?

The Rally Cat's 2/5 (med-soft) flex makes it one of the most approachable all-mountain boards in the Jones lineup. It is forgiving on edge catches and easy to initiate turns, making it a solid fit for intermediates transitioning off rental gear. Experienced riders who want a low-effort fun board will enjoy it too. Pure beginners would find it manageable.

Can I ride the Rally Cat switch?

Yes. The Rally Cat is a directional twin with zero taper, so nose and tail share the same shape and the stance is centered. True Camber delivers consistent edge engagement whether you ride regular or fakie. Switch runs, park features, and spin tricks are all on the table with this shape.

Full camber — will it catch edges more easily than a rocker board?

Full camber has continuous contact with the snow tip-to-tail, which requires slightly cleaner edge transitions than a rockered board. The Rally Cat's 2/5 soft flex significantly reduces that risk, since the board deflects before catching on most mistakes. The Low 3D Contour Base (2 mm tip bevel) also reduces friction at the tips, giving you a small margin of forgiveness.

Will the Rally Cat work across the whole mountain or mainly on groomers?

The Rally Cat is a genuine all-mountain board. Full camber handles carving and groomed runs well, the Sintered 8000 base glides cleanly in variable snow, and the medium Traction Tech helps maintain grip in off-piste conditions. It is not a deep powder specialist, but it holds its own across the whole resort without feeling out of place anywhere.

I'm between two sizes — how should I choose on the Rally Cat?

Use riding weight as the primary factor: aim for a length where your weight sits in the middle of the recommended range rather than at the edge. Riders who favor playful freestyle can size down; those who carry speed into bigger terrain can size up. Boot size also matters when choosing between standard and Wide (W) options in the range.

How much base maintenance does the Rally Cat need to stay fast?

The Sintered 8000 base holds wax well and is easy to repair. A hot wax every 4 to 5 days of riding in normal resort conditions keeps it fast, or whenever you notice the base looking dry. Sintered bases are more durable and significantly faster than extruded alternatives and respond well to regular stone-grind and wax cycles.
