Product Description
The Ultralight Solution Splitboard is Jones's backcountry line-bomber, engineered for experts who throttle turns at top speed and push the limits of technical terrain. Fusion Carbon construction and a Koroyd-reinforced Fusion Core cut weight without sacrificing power, while the Directional Camber/Rocker profile grips steep faces and floats deep powder. Boltless Bridge and Karakoram Ultra Clips 3C seal the split connection for riders chasing serious lines far from the lift.
Product Details
| Rocker Type | Directional Camber / Rocker: camber underfoot for powerful edge grip and dynamic response, with rocker at the nose for smooth turn entry, enhanced float in powder and improved maneuverability. |
| Flex | Stiff (5 / 5) |
| Shape | Directional, Medium Tapered |
| Sidecut | Progressive Sidecut: radius increases progressively toward the contact points for smoother turn entry and exit. |
| Core | Fusion Core: high-tech wood core crafted from select Paulownia with pockets of Poplar along the sidecut for added edge durability. Engineered for Jones Ultralight models, it delivers the lightest core in the lineup with a perfect strength-to-weight ratio. · Koroyd: aerospace-derived synthetic dampening material integrated directly into the woodcore, absorbing vibrations and reducing tip swing weight for quicker, smoother turns. |
| Laminates | Fusion Carbon: Jones-exclusive tip-to-tail carbon fiber and fiberglass construction, reducing weight without sacrificing performance or response. · Durabond Bio-Epoxy [27]: bio-based epoxy with 27% plant-based carbon content, reducing CO₂ by 33% vs conventional epoxy with unmatched bonding properties. |
| Sidewalls | Recycled ABS: 100% recycled ABS with rounded finish to reduce chipping. |
| Base | Ultra Base: Jones-exclusive sintered base with carbon additives for industry-leading speed and wax absorption, multi-wax infused for supreme glide in warm, wet and variable snow. Made in Austria. |
| Edges | Recycled Edges: bombproof steel from recycled German steel on outer edges. · Inner Thin Recycled Edges: thinner recycled steel on internal edges only, reducing overall board weight. |
| Topsheet | Ultralight Eco Topsheet: ultralight version of the castor bean-sourced bio-plastic topsheet, durable and scratch-resistant with minimized environmental impact. |
| Splitboard Hardware | Boltless Bridge: the woodcore is re-profiled (thicker) under the split clips, eliminating clip attachment hardware from the base for better torsional stiffness and a more powerful connection at the split clips. · Quick Tension Tail: integrated skin tension system with a pre-cut notch eliminates the need for a traditional tail clip. · Karakoram Ultra Clips 3C: ultralight and durable three-point tension system, adjustable to maintain even compression as the splitboard ages. · Karakoram Tip-Lock Tip Clips 2.0: lock the split together with the flick of a lever, staying tightly attached all season. |
| Additional Features | High 3D Contour Base: freeride-focused base shape with 7 mm spoon bevel in the nose and 0 to 7 mm in the tail, starting just before the contact point, enhancing glide, reducing drag at the tips and improving float. · High Traction Tech: serrations along the running length add multiple contact points for edge grip, offsetting edge drift on the rockered nose. · Inner Edge Traction Tech: three sidecut bumps on each side of the bindings maintain grip on icy skin track traverses. · Fair Trade Certified. · Solar Built (100% solar energy production). |
Ultralight Solution Splitboard 2027 FAQ
How much lighter is the Ultralight Solution versus the standard Solution Splitboard?
The Ultralight Solution uses Fusion Carbon construction: tip-to-tail carbon fiber and fiberglass built around a Paulownia-primary Fusion Core, Jones's lightest woodcore. With Koroyd dampening and an Ultra Base instead of standard sintered material, size 158 weighs 2.7 kg (6.0 lbs), compared to 3.1 kg (6.8 lbs) for the standard Solution in the same size. That is roughly 400 g saved, which adds up significantly over a full day of touring.
Is the Ultralight Solution for expert riders only?
Yes. The Ultralight Solution is rated Stiff (5/5) and built for expert splitboarders tackling technical backcountry lines at high speed. The flex demands committed edge pressure on steep couloirs and variable backcountry snow, and rewards it with precise, powerful response. If you are still building your backcountry skills, the standard Solution or Stratos Split at medium flex would be more appropriate starting points.
What clip system does it use and will my touring bindings fit?
The Ultralight Solution uses Karakoram Ultra Clips 3C, a three-point ultralight tension system. Any splitboard binding compatible with Karakoram pucks mounts on these clips for ride mode. Karakoram is the industry-standard splitboard clip system; most major splitboard binding brands offer compatible interfaces. In tour mode you split the board and use your touring binding interface as normal.
How does the Quick Tension Tail work for skin attachment?
The Quick Tension Tail is a built-in skin attachment system that replaces the traditional metal tail clip. A pre-cut notch in the board's tail accepts the skin tail directly, keeping it under tension without hardware. It is faster to manage in cold conditions and eliminates a piece of hardware that can break or get lost in the field. Skins come pre-cut per size with letter and trim codes in the size table.
What makes the Ultra Base different from the standard Sintered 8000 on other Jones boards?
The Ultra Base is Jones's proprietary sintered base with carbon additives for superior speed and wax absorption. It is infused with multiple wax types during manufacturing for strong out-of-the-box glide, and made in Austria for tight quality control. On long backcountry tours, faster base glide means measurably less effort on flat traverses and runouts, and faster descents in variable snow.
Will it hold an edge on steep, hard-pack backcountry lines?
Yes. The Stiff (5/5) flex provides maximum torsional resistance so the edge does not flex away under load on steep terrain. The Boltless Bridge eliminates split clip hardware from the base by reinforcing the woodcore under the clips, removing the torsional weak point that bolt hardware creates. High Traction Tech serrations add multiple contact points for grip, critical on steep icy lines where edge security is non-negotiable.
